Eighteen fires are currently active and identified by the Kamloops Fire Centre, with 16 from the lightning storm Friday evening. 24 fires in total have been active since. 

Updates for fires in the area are still incoming as more are identified by the BC Wildfire Service.

Most are still believed to be spot sized, but there are a couple fires to keep an eye on. 

The Solco Creek fire is still standing at 13.8 hectares and is the largest fire so far in the area. Fire crews have been able to establish a handline and a dozer guard around the perimeter of the fire. 

Crews have also been sent to a fire north of the South Thompson River near Monte Creek, with helicopter and air tankers heading out. 

It is a part of a cluster fire that occurred earlier on Saturday and is currently out of control. 

“We did reposition an initial attack crew to support the fire in conjunction with the air tankers and we do have a helicopter assigned as well,”said Fire Information Officer Gagan Lidhran, adding it is currently at 0.009 hectares.

“Because it’s so hot and dry, and the fields are so dry, we’re just taking action on it so it doesn't spread any further.”

A fire is also being addressed near Lytton, 4 kilometres north of Spencer Road and will be supported by a medium helicopter and seven crew members. The source of this fire is suspected to come from a motor vehicle accident.
