Kamloops RCMP investigating early morning home invasion on North Shore

Home invasion on Comox

A heavy police presence on the North Shore early this morning (Aug. 1) was in response to a home invasion.

Police were called to the 600 block of Comox Avenue around 1:20 a.m. According to a news release, the home invasion involved firearms.

When Mounties arrived on scene they intercepted what they believed was a get-away vehicle. One man was taken into custody. Two people inside the home were called out by police; one individual reported minor injuries at the hands of the home intruders.

The police emergency response team was called in to help clear the property and confirm that nobody else was left behind.

"It appears that the fast response from our police officers may have prevented something much more serious from happening," says Staff Sgt. Mat Van Laer in the release. "We are thankful that nobody was seriously hurt."

He says since the investigation is ongoing, no further details will be released at this time. However, police would like residents to know that all safety concerns have been addressed.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 250-828-3000. Alternatively, you can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
