Fire crews were on scene of the Solco Creek wildfire east of Okanagan Falls overnight, and it's now grown to eight hectares in size.

The fire was sparked late Thursday night about one kilometre south of Solco Lake.

While it's currently not threatening any structures, Fire Information Officer Gagan Lidhran says five BC Wildfire Service firefighters were on scene of the out-of-control fire through the evening, after a helicopter and five air tankers hit the fire earlier in the evening.

Saturday, 40 firefighters are working on the blaze, with assistance from two helicopters bucketing water.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The Solco Creek fire is currently the largest reported wildfire in the Kamloops Fire Centre, after 14 spot-sized fires were sparked during Friday night's lightning storm.
