"The Entertainer" Eddie Shack passes away

Eddie Shack passes

Three-time all-star and four-time Stanley Cup champion Eddie Shack has passed away.

The hockey legend died last night (July 25) in a Toronto hospital after losing a battle with cancer, according to a release for the NHL. He was 83 years old.

Shack, from Sudbury, Ontario, played over 1,000 NHL games throughout his career, including stints with the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins.

However, he's most famous for his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he won all four of his Cup rings – even scoring the Cup-winning goal in 1963. A novelty song was even written during his time with the Leafs, where he was known as a third-line agitator.
