GoFundMe campaign set up for family of rock climbing victim

Actor died living his dream

Josiah Black died doing what he loved.

The 32-year-old Lake Country man died while hiking and rock climbing on Spion Kop in Lake Country on June 16.

According to his brother Nathan Black, Josiah always liked to be in nature, and the outdoors.

"He liked to be in nature and liked to go on hikes. He was always about that kind of lifestyle, being outdoors, exploring and going on adventures," said Nathan.

"He went up to Spion Kop because he goes hiking a lot and rock climbing, but the rocks are just really brutal and loose right now. One must have come dislodged or something. He slipped pretty far."

Now, the family has established a GoFundMe campaign to assist his wife Alisha, his 18-month-old daughter and a second child due Dec. 31.

They are hoping to raise as much as $250,000 for the family.

Josiah Black had moved back to Lake Country from Los Angeles to help raise his young family, putting his burgeoning acting career on hold.

Black had appeared in several movies including Jigsaw (2017), Kindergarten Cop 2 (2016) and Sex and the Single Alien (2015).

"He was very passionate about his acting and comedy career," Nathan said.

"He was still writing scripts, and focused on returning to film one day."

A celebration of life will be held July 11.
