West Kelowna man fighting for his life after tumbling down hill

Long road to recovery

A West Kelowna husband and father of two is in for the fight of his life after his truck tumbled down a slope on Westside Road on June 29.

Tyler Sheriff and a friend had to turn around on Westside Road, and while he was backing up the truck went over the side of the hill, bounced and rolled numerous times before coming to rest.

Sheriff's friend managed to walk away, but he was not so lucky. He suffered multiple injuries including a broken shoulder blade, a crushed pelvis, broken hip, twisted femur, dislocated knee, and damage to his sciatic nerve.

Sheriff's injuries could take over a year to heal, and he's looking at 4-6 weeks in the hospital. A GoFundMe page has been started to help the family make it through this difficult time. The fundraiser organizer Lori Jayne says he is the only provider in the home and they will likely have to increase the  amount they are asking for from $10,000 to $30,000.

Jayne tells Castanet: "He is very lucky according to the doctor. I’m asking for friends, family and his community to help out if they can. Any funds raised will go directly to Tyler and his family. His wife Sandy, daughter Summer (4) and son Tyson(16) are going to need a lot of support over the next year. Please help in any way you can. Thank you."
