Hwy 1 reopens in both directions between Revelstoke and Golden

Highway 1 now cleared

Highway 1 between Revelstoke and Golden is now clear in both directions. 

UPDATED: 7:45 p.m.

Vehicle recovery is in progress and the closed portion of Highway 1 is expected to reopen at 9:00 p.m. Sunday. 

There is still no detour available. 

UPDATED: 6:20 p.m.

DriveBC is reporting Highway 1 is closed in both directions between Revelstoke and Golden, due to a multi-vehicle incident.

There is no estimated time of opening for the 147.9 kilometre stretch of road between Meadows in the Sky Pkwy and Golden Donald Upper Road, and no available detours. 

DriveBC expects to provide an update on the situation at 8:00 p.m. Sunday. 

Earlier on Sunday a washout led to delays between Woods OH Bridge and Summit Lake OH Bridge.

Expect delays on Highway 1 in both directions as DriveBC is dealing with a washout between Woods OH Bridge and Summit Lake OH Bridge for 4.3 km (15 to 10 km west of Revelstoke).

The road is still open to traffic but states minor delays are still possible.

They ask drivers to obey speed signs in the work zone and all flaggers.
