Banding Together Concert Series raises funds for food bank

Band together for food bank

A second virtual livestream concert on Thursday will raise funds for the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

The Banding Together Livestreaming Concert Series' first event raised more than $10,000 for the food bank. Organizers hope to raise up to $30,000 during the second event.

The event brings local musicians together to perform original hits as well as some well-known classics. Viewers can enjoy the show from the comfort of their living rooms.

The concert will air on Facebook Live and YouTube Live at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

"Local musicians have volunteered to team up with the food banks of the Central Okanagan in support of our communities in these times of need. Demands on the food banks have increased by between 20-30 per cent in the last several weeks due to COVID-19 and they need help," reads a statement from the organizers.

Featured artists include Country Star, Ben Klick, Julie Masi with Steve Soucy, Rick 'Poppa Dawg' Halisheff and more. Viewers are encouraged to invite their friends virtually to join the party.

The fundraiser will benefit food banks in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland and Lake Country.
