Brian May had heart attack

Brian May suffered a heart attack during his recent problems with back and bottom pain.

The Queen rocker, 72, revealed he had suffered the mild cardiac episode in a video on Instagram, in which he aimed to clarify a past post indicating that he'd been hospitalized after ripping his "gluteus maximus" to "shreds" while gardening earlier this month.

In his post, the star explained that due to still being in "agony" a week after the gardening accident, he went back to hospital for further checks, which revealed it was a compressed sciatic nerve that had been causing the pain.

Brian went on to say that he's a "lot better now," but revealed that he'd also suffered a mild heart attack during his health troubles.

"In the middle of the whole saga of the painful backside, I had a small heart attack," he reveals. "And I say small, it was about 40 minutes of pain in the chest, tightness and that feeling in the arms, and sweating."

Brian says his doctor drove him to hospital in his own car, where he underwent an angiogram that established three of his arteries were blocked. The star was offered a choice between undergoing open heart surgery and having three stents put in and opted for the latter, as the pain in his upper legs and back was still intense.

In the caption to the video, Brian joked about his medical issues mirroring the title of Queen's 1974 album Sheer Heart Attack.

"Hmm... Sheer Heart Attack eh ? Well, I think I always worried a little bit about that album title," he writes. "I wondered if it might upset some people who had actually had heart attacks. I'm actually quite relieved now that I'm in that club - and I don't find it upsetting at all! Take care folks."
