Highway 1 has reopened, according to Kamloops RCMP.
"Earlier, Kamloops RCMP closed the highway in both directions in an abundance of caution while they investigated a 'shots fired' complaint near the Lamplighter Hotel," states Cpl. Jodi Shelkie in a press release. "After a thorough investigation, the complaint was found to be false."

A section of the Trans Canada Highway is currently closed due to a police incident.
Kamloops RCMP have closed the Trans Canada Highway in Valleyview near the Oriole Road and the Lamplighter Hotel, according to Cpl. Jodi Shelkie.
"Please be aware that East Trans Canada Highway is closed in both directions while Kamloops RCMP deal with a complaint of a suspicious occurrence," she writes in an email to press.
She adds there is no danger to the public and the highway should reopen soon.
