Blazers captain Zane Franklin named to WHL 2nd All-Star team

Franklin named 2nd All-Star

The season might be over, but that hasn't stopped the accolades for Kamloops Blazers captain Zane Franklin.

The 21-year-old was named to the WHL's Western Conference Second All-Star team. During the shortened 2019-20 season he was still able to put up career highs in all major offensive categories, as a press release from the WHL points out.

"His 91 points landed him fourth on the WHL scoring charts, while his 62 helpers were second best, and his 32 power-play assists were tops," states the release.

Franklin recently cleaned up at the Blazer's annual awards, which were announced at the end of March. He won or shared five awards including the team MVP award (which he shared with goalie Dylan Garand). This season was his last in the WHL, as he's aging out of the league.

Franklin was the only player from B.C.'s interior named to the team; defenceman Bowen Byram of the Vancouver Giants also got the nod.
