Kelowna's Beefed Up TV celebrates launch of second episode

Beefed Up TV: foil surfing

Calling all water sport enthusiasts!

Kelowna-based Beefed Up TV is celebrating the launch of their second episode: 'Campion foil boat' which showcases the transformation of a 2001 Campion Allante sports boat into a surfing foil machine.

Founded by Carey Missler and Cam McQueen, Beefed Up TV  is a production company that produces content for online streaming, movies, television and commercials.

"We decided to come up with a concept similar to Pimp My Ride, partner with a bunch of corporate companies and film the process of basically upgrading these vehicles from scratch," says Missler. "This episode took almost a year, so we started filming it last spring, filmed all throughout the summer and fall, and we just finished our last interview on Friday."

Missler hopes that viewers will be inspired to try out foil surfing themselves.

"Once you learn it and can get the handle behind it, it literally feels like you're flying on a magic carpet," he says. "It's a really amazing feeling."

For those who aren't familiar, foil surfing is a combination of surfing and hydrofoil technology. Rather than using a traditional fin on the board, the bottom fin is replaced with a long hydrodynamic fin, or blade.

Missler hopes by sharing the episode of Beefed Up TV, people can shift their focus to something other than the COVID-19 pandemic, while enjoying a local project.

"It's a good opportunity to showcase the Okanagan, to bring a spotlight to local companies and local projects which is really important," he says.
