Apple releases updated guidelines on cleaning your iPhone

Cleaned your phone lately?

Corporations and businesses around the globe are doing what they can to help you protect yourself as best as possible from COVID-19, including Apple.

In light of the global pandemic, and the realization the virus can live on surfaces for up to days, Apple has released an updated set of guidelines on how to properly clean your iPhone, iPad, Mac or other Apple devices.

Here’s a few tips for cleaning your iPhone from Apple’s updated guidelines:

Turn your iPhone off before cleaning any of it, and unplug all cables from your device or external power sources.

Find a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe down your iPhone, such as a lens cloth.

Avoid abrasive cloths, towels, paper towels or similar items, and avoid excessive wiping or spraying your cleaning product directly onto the phone, which could cause damage to your device.

You can also use a disinfectant on your iPhone. Apple recommends using a 70 per cent isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.

Do not use bleach or household cleaners, and do not submerge your iPhone in any cleaning agents. Instead, wipe the exterior surfaces of your iPhone gently, taking extra care to not allow any moisture in any openings.

Each Apple product may have more specific cleaning requirements. Visit the Apple website for further information.
