Highway 1 remains closed due to an avalanche in Glacier National Park.

UPDATED: 9:30 p.m.

DriveBC says it is estimated Highway 1 will reopen in both directions at 11:30 p.m.

UPDATED: 3:30 p.m.

Highway 31 west of Galena Bay in the Arrow Lakes area is also closed now, due to a high avalanche hazard in the area, according to Drive BC.

ORIGINAL: 1:50 p.m.

Drive BC is reporting Highway 1 is closed in both directions in Glacier National Park due to an avalanche.

An assessment is in progress according to the provincial government agency. Judging by highway web cams, traffic is already backing up east of Revelstoke and west of Golden.

The next update is due around 4:30 p.m.
