Park washrooms to reopen

The City of Kelowna is preparing to open some public washrooms on April 1.

Public park washrooms along Kelowna's waterfront including washrooms from Rotary to Sutherland Parks and Knox Mountain, Cameron and Osprey Parks will open Wednesday.

Extensive cleaning protocols will be followed multiple times a day, following advice from health officials to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Park washrooms except for City, Gertsmar and Stuart Parks all close seasonally to ensure pipes don't freeze during the colder months. All other park washrooms will remain closed at this time.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, water fountains and water services at off-leash dog parks will remain closed until further notice.

Knox Mountain Drive will also remain closed. Usually, the road is open at this time of year but it will remain closed a safety measure in promoting social distancing throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Canyon Falls Park trail will be closed during spring to ensure public safety. During the freshet season water can increase causing slope instability. Signs are posted at the trail to advise the public further.
