Mother creates way to play safely outside amid pandemic

Socially distant games night

A mother in Trail, B.C., thinking of something fun for her family to do during isolation, had an idea to create her own Pictionary board.

Using wrapping paper, a tripod and markers, she took her work of art outside her neighbour's house to play with their family — from a safe 20-foot distance, of course.

“I’m 100 percent on board with keeping your distance... six feet is mandatory,” said Darelyn Stewart.”

“But it’s good for your health, to get your children out and riding their bike, and keeping their distance from other children.”

She jokes that it’s just as important for adult to get out for a break or two.

“Even parents without going insane in the house with the children running around it is nice to go out and mingle with [other] humans.”

Stuart’s family lives less than a block from school, and with parks being closed, now this is the only time her kids have to go outside.

“It’s nice to get our children out and get some vitamin D in their skin.”
