Police in Delta were out catching speeders Thursday.

Police in Delta called a driver “insanely reckless” after a Mercedes SUV was pulled over driving more than double the speed limit Thursday.

Delta police posted a tweet Thursday morning after catching the driver driving 166 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on South Fraser Perimeter Road.

"Our officers were glad to take this insanely reckless driver off the road today," Delta police posted in a tweet.

The driver was handed a $483 ticket, along with three penalty points, and the SUV was impounded for seven days.

“This will definitely impact their Driver's Risk premium for insurance purposes,” Delta police wrote.
