RCMP seek suspect following 25 vehicles vandalized

Tires slashed on 25 vehicles

RCMP are looking for a suspect in connection to 25 cases of vehicle vandalism in the Maple Ridge area.

Police received calls Sunday from residents after their tires had been punctured or slashed on 224th Street near Abernathy Way and Morse Crescent, according to CTV News.

Officers obtained surveillance video of the suspect but are still searching for more footage in the area. Other forms of evidence have been collected at the crime scenes including fingerprints.

"We have the evidence, somebody knows who this person is, and it’s only a matter of time before someone comes forward to help us identify this suspect," said Const. Julie Klaussner.

In some instances, all four tires on the vehicles were damaged and according to Klaussner, she has "no idea" what the suspect's motive was.

"This has caused a huge amount of inconvenience for our victims and we empathize with how they must be feeling right now," she said.

The male suspect is described as 50 to 55 years old with a heavy build and short grey hair. He was dressed in a black ball cap, black or dark blue pants with a white stripe, black shoes with red soles, a black jacket and grey hoodie underneath.
