Kelowna hosts Health xChange event for first time

Health xChange in town

Speaking event Health xChange is coming to Kelowna this June, and organizers are looking for engaging presenters to highlight health research in the BC Interior.

It's the first time Health xChange has been hosted in Kelowna, presented by the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research in partnership with Interior Health and the KGH Foundation

Researchers, community members and health system decision-makers will come together on Jun. 4 to share ideas relating to the event's theme of "how community-engaged research influences health system change."

It is an evening of networking and storytelling with Pecha Kucha - a storytelling format based on 20 slides, shown for 20 seconds.

Presentation topics might include, but are not limited to:

  • Creative ways of ensuring a more vibrant diversity of voices are heard, or different forms of knowledge are considered.
  • Novel initiatives that are working to influence health system changes.
  • Community-based participatory research to address the social determinants of health.
  • Learnings that you gleaned from health system change initiatives that didn’t go as planned.

If you have a story to share, submit a 200-word overview, or 2-3 minute video, to [email protected] by Friday, Feb. 28.

Submissions should outline:

  • What health issues you hoped to address,
  • What changes were you hoping to make, and what changes you achieved,
  • Lessons learned, and
  • Your contact information and where we might find further information about you, your project and/or organization.
