Wooden baby bear statue found with note attached

Stolen bear left in woods

The case of the stolen baby bear has been solved.

Well not completely, after several days of attention, including a video showing a man knocking the bear to the ground and then making off with it, the wooden bear was found on a logging road near Chemainus on Vancouver Island.

CTV News Vancouver Island is reporting that Chemainus RCMP found the bear Tuesday morning, along with a note: "I am so sorry for taking the bear."

Pam Bolton, RCMP spokesperson, indicates the statue has now been returned to the ice cream shop where it was taken from and RCMP continue to investigate.

The ice cream shop owner says this is the third time one of the shop's bear statues has been stolen.
