Avalanche danger closed Trans-Canada east of Golden overnight

The Trans-Canada Highway reopened overnight after a Monday closure due to high avalanche hazard east of Golden.

Intermittent closures with 20 minute delays continued until 1 a.m.

UPDATE: 8:30 p.m.

DriveBC now says a stretch of the Trans Canada Highway east of Golden is not expected to open until early Tuesday morning.

The latest information indicates the highway will reopen by 1 a.m.

The six-kilometre stretch of the highway was closed between Golden Donald Upper Road and Yoho Bridge earlier this afternoon for avalanche deposit removal.

High avalanche hazard has closed the Trans-Canada Highway just east of Golden.

DriveBC reports a six-kilometre stretch of the highway is closed between Golden Donald Upper Road and Yoho Bridge.

It is expected the route will reopen by 7 p.m.
