Dog attacked while out walking in Kelowna on Monday

Dog attacked, owners fume

Jukka was left bleeding from his backside, neck and head, and Sterling is facing a big vet bill.

She was walking her two dogs near Lakeshore Road on Monday, minding their own business, when another dog broke loose from its leash and came bounding towards them.

"This lady ... lost grip of her huge dog's leash about 30 feet away – a big white Maremma or Pyrenees came lunging and aggressively running towards us. First at me, and then the dogs.

"I had to pull the dog off Jukka's neck ... he came out in rough shape, had to go to the vet immediately."

Sterling has reached out on Facebook, asking for any information on the owner of the other dog, in hopes they can help others avoid the same situation.

"If you live in Lakeshore area and you see this person, please be careful! My husband has told her and her partner multiple times it needs to be on a proper leash or muzzle. We’re now stuck with a huge vet bill, but thankful Jukka is still alive as well as my seven-month-old Pomeranian.

"This huge dog is aggressive to pets and people! Be aware, and if you know anything about this person please contact me, as we’re trying to find the owner to pay for this vet bill."

The incident has been reported to RDCO Dog Control.
