Vees' Niedermayer named BCHL player of the week

Vee takes player of the week

Penticton Vees forward Jackson Niedermayer has been named the BCHL’s player of the week.

Niedermayer, 18, is in his second season with the Vees and helped Penticton to a perfect start in the 2020 portion of their schedule with wins over the Vernon Vipers, Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Victoria Grizzlies.

He’s earned five goals and an assist for six points in those three games, including his first career four-point night in Saturday’s 8-4 victory over the Grizzlies. Niedermayer also registered his first career BCHL hat-trick in the win.

Niedermayer has 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points in 40 games played this season with the Vees.

Niedermayer and the Vees return to action with their fourth Wicked Wednesday of the season as they host the Langley Rivermen on Wednesday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Puck drop is slated for 6:30 p.m.

Then this weekend, the Vees will be paying homage to their 1955 World Championship team with retro jerseys and a weekend home-and-home against the Trail Smoke Eaters. Penticton will play Trail on Saturday, January 11th at the SOEC with a special ticket promotion available. A special price of $10.55 will be available with the purchase of a ticket to Wednesday night’s game. The promotion ends at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
