West Kelowna Warriors host annual Teddy Bear Toss Saturday

Teddy bear toss for charity

Mamas for Mamas will be the big winners when the West Kelowna Warriors host their annual Teddy Bear Toss night Saturday at Royal LePage.

Since the team started the tradition back in 2006, thousands of stuffed animals have been tossed, collected and delivered to several deserving charities, including the Boys and Girls Club, food bank and now, Mamas for Mamas.

“This is a significant evening for us”, said Warriors president Chris Laurie.

“It allows us to provide a platform for our community to give back to the less fortunate throughout the Central Okanagan, and have a ton of fun doing it."

Mamas For Mamas is a specialized poverty relief agency and an all inclusive community for mothers and caregivers.

The Warriors also encourage fans to leave a non-perishable food item, or cash for the Central Okanagan Food Bank during their time of greatest need.

Santa will also take time from his busy schedule to meet up with mascots from around the Central Okanagan for a fun first intermission game.

The Warriors host the Wenatchee Wild Saturday.

Faceoff is 6 p.m.
