BC drivers are being reminded not to pass plow trucks on the right

Don't pass the plow

It may seem like common sense to most people, but the Ministry of Transportation has released a video about why it is dangerous to pass a snow plow on the right.

Passing on the right is fraught with hazards. Not only is there the snow that is being plowed, but there is also the plow itself, the full length of which might not be visible to passing motorists.

In the video, snowplow drivers talk about people hitting the blade in an attempt to pass the slow-moving big trucks.

Those collisions often send the passing vehicle and the snow plow into the ditch.

Drivers caught passing a plow on the right can be fined almost $100.
