Joaquin Phoenix is set to be honoured by bosses at PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for his commitment to animal rights.
The Joker star, who has been a longtime supporter of the organization, has been named their 2019 Person of the Year.
A vegan since the age of three, Joaquin recently appeared on PETA's We Are All Animals billboards to promote legislation that will ban traveling wild-animal circuses. He also executive produced The Animal People, a documentary about animal rights activists.
"Joaquin Phoenix never misses an opportunity to turn the spotlight away from himself and onto animals' plight and to set a great example of walking the vegan walk," PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement.
Previous recipients of the accolade include Oprah Winfrey, Anjelica Huston, Olivia Munn, Eva Mendes and Alicia Silverstone.
