Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has won thousands of new fans in the dog rescue community after adopting two abandoned pit bulls slated to be put down.
The longtime dog lover announced this week he has two new additions to his family, explaining the pups had been "neglected and abused" for many years before they were saved by their brand new guardian.
The two pit bulls, Maggie and Ollie, were surrendered to an animal rescue shelter in Tampa, Florida recently, and local volunteers at foster organization Rescue Me Tampa worked hard to find the pair a new home together, sending out pleas on social media.
Bautista saw the notice and stepped up to take in the black-and-white dogs.
Sharing the news on Instagram, alongside six pictures of his new pets, the Tampa resident wrote: "I needed them, they needed me. These beautiful babies spent the first six years of their lives neglected and abused. And now they are going to spend the rest of their lives being spoiled and loved..."
The Avengers: Endgame actor added he is "eternally grateful" to everyone who "worked so hard to keep them safe, find them a home and most importantly keep these two together."
And some of the former wrestling champion's famous friends were quick to salute his kind act.
"They just won the #DogLottery. So happy for all three of you! Can't wait to meet them," wrote Ballers star Justin Long, while Bautista's Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn responded with three celebratory emojis of his own.
