One Rutland resident wants to warn neighbours about a potential thief in the area by Rutland Secondary School.

Jeff, who wishes not to share his last name noticed someone lurking in his backyard early Wednesday morning.

“I usually check my footage every morning and I just noticed that someone was in my yard, and it was kind of disturbing - it feels like an invasion of your space having somebody walk onto your property with bad intentions,” explains Jeff.

Jeff shared his surveillance video with Castanet stating that he lives near RSS and is worried about what will happen once the McCurdy Rd. Project comes into effect.

“It’s a good thing people need housing but I disagree with the locations that have been chosen and I think it should be set aside for people who really want the help,” says Jeff.

Jeff installed cameras a year and a half ago because he likes to know what’s going on with his property, but nothing like this has ever happened before.

“There has been a person in my yard before but she kinda just made a short cut to come through and avoid the police.”

Jeff’s neighbour had to put in cameras recently because things have gone missing.

“I just want to make sure people are aware that this stuff is happening and it’s probably going to start happening more frequently with the changes happening in the area… keep your eyes open, and be alert,” adds Jeff.
