Warriors pick new president

The West Kelowna Warriors have a new guy in charge.

Chris Laurie has been named the new President of the club, starting immediately. He will oversee hockey and business operations for the Warriors.

Laurie was raised in West Kelowna and was the first Marketing Director for the team from 2006 to 2008. He went on to work in the AHL, then was the General Manager for the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League for three years.

In his final year with the Bulls he won a League Championship, then in 2013 he moved back to the Okanagan to be closer to his family and pursue other business opportunities.

"I’m very excited to re-join my hometown franchise. I have many fond memories of my time with the Warriors and all the wonderful supporters I met along the way," Laurie said. "I’ve always had an affinity for this organization and I look forward to helping turn it around. It is a privilege to work in hockey and I thank new team owners Mr. Murphy and Mr. Hume for entrusting me with this opportunity."

Nov 22 & 23 will be the opening homestand under Laurie, and he is promising immediate improvements to game night presentation.
