Snow was falling overnight in the valley bottom

Warmer weather on way

UPDATE: 10:10 a.m.

Temperatures are expected to rise as the week goes on, reaching a high of nine degrees on Friday and 11 degrees on Sunday.

Today's high will be four degrees, which is average for this time of year.

Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says the mild pattern will continue through the week, and could result in more snow later in the week, depending on night temperatures.

"Generally speaking, the city of Kelowna and around downtown got away with no snow last night. It was farther up towards the airport and higher places in the Valley. Any snow that did fall will be disappearing very quickly with the warm spell we're in. By Tuesday afternoon, we're only expecting snowfall at 1400 metres, so that's probably the Joe Rich area."

It serves as a good reminder to prepare for winter, says Lundquist.

"I think people should just take this as a warning to get things in order for winter - winterize your RV's, make sure your vehicles have the right type of tires, and remember to check conditions before you drive. Check DriveBC and Environment Canada for updates before you leave."
