Warriors island trip ends with loss in Cowichan

Warriors skid reaches 7

The West Kelowna Warriors are heading back home still looking for answers.

The Warriors dropped both games on an Island Division road trip, dropping a 6-2 decision in Cowichan Valley Sunday afternoon.

The trip was cut short by one game, after Saturday's tilt in Port Alberni was postponed due to problems with the rink.

That game will be made up at a later date.

Sunday's defeat was the Warriors seventh in a row, and the sixth straight game in which they have surrendered at least the first two goals.

Cowichan built up a 4-0 lead with a pair of goals in the opening period, and two more before the second was eight minutes old.

Brendan Pigeon got one back with a power play marker with less than 10 seconds to go in the second, then Max Bukawka gave the life with his sixth three minutes into the third.

They were unable to get to within a goal despite a power play later in the third.

Cowichan put the game out of reach with goals late in the third.

The game featured a couple of fights and 92 penalty minutes. Cowichan went two for seven with the man advantage while the Warriors scored once in their seven chances.

The Warriors string of seven straight away from home concludes with games Saturday in Prince George and a week Wednesday in Surrey.

They finally return home to host Wenatchee Nov. 22 and Salmon Arm Nov. 23.
