Mother and child pulled out of rolled vehicle in two-car crash

2 rescued, 97-Burtch crash

A crash at the corner of Harvey Ave. and Burtch Rd. has resulted in a vehicle roll-over which left a mother and toddler trapped in their vehicle.

The crash took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. and was attended by RCMP, paramedics and fire services.

The mother was screaming for her child, says a witness whose car narrowly avoided becoming the third vehicle involved in the crash.

Both mother and child were pulled from the vehicle by emergency services and have been taken to hospital in stable condition. The child is approximately 2 or 3 years old.

The second car came "barrelling out of nowhere", said the witness, before crashing onto the curb and causing debris to spread across the intersection.

"We were all just climbing onto the SUV to try and help them get out. I'm a mother myself and I was going to bring my kids out tonight but then this happened... I just can't believe it."

A tow truck arrived at about 5:00 p.m. to assist with the removal of the vehicles.
