Vees five-game win streak snapped by Trail Wednesday at SOEC

Vees win streak ends at 5

A five-game win streak for the Penticton Vees came to an end Wednesday night, falling 4-1 to the Trail Smoke Eaters at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Trail held the lead the entire game, after opening scoring 15 minutes into the first with a goal from the BCHL’s leading scorer, Kent Johnson, on the powerplay.

Johnson would get a second later in the game, while a pair from Philippe Lapointe would round out scoring for Trail.

The lone Penticton goal game from Lukas Sillinger early in the third period.

Yaniv Perets made many big saves on the night for the Vees, turning aside 25 of the 28 shots he faced in his 3rd loss of the season while Trail goalie Logan Terness stopped 41 of the 42 shots thrown his way in his 11th win of the year.

The Vees (16-3-1-0) head back out on the road for a pair of games south of the border as they face off against the Wenatchee Wild (11-8-1-1) Friday night. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 p.m. from the Town Toyota Center with the game being broadcast on EZ Rock AM 800.
