BC Ferries will offer alcohol on select sailings to Vancouver Island

Booze sales on BC Ferries

BC Ferries have announced they will begin serving wine and beer on select routes starting this week.

The pilot project is expected to run into the fall of 2020 and will launch this Thursday.

CTV News is reporting that the initial service will be limited to the Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay runs which typically take just over 90 minutes. Passengers will only be allowed to purchase wine or beer with a meal and sales will be limited to one beverage per person per sailing.

Customers will be able to purchase a 12-ounce beer for $6.99 or a five-ounce glass of wine for $9.99. Sales will start at 11 a.m. and end a half-hour before docking.

BC Ferries maintains a strict no drinking and driving policy and this service is being added since they already offer alcohol sales to and from Port Hardy, Prince Rupert, Haida Gwaii and the Central Coast.
