Environment Canada issues snowfall warning for Paulson Summit

Snowfall in high passes

UPDATE 7:34 a.m.

Environment Canada has now lifted the snowfall warning for Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

Rain is now expected to fall for much of Tuesday. The forecast now calls for a 40 percent chance of showers this afternoon, which could be snow above 1500 metres, wind becoming north 30 km/h gusting to 50 near noon.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

Snowfall amounts of up to 20 to 30 cm are possible as a moist Pacific frontal system moves through the southern interior.

Kootenay Pass has already seen 10 to 15 cm's of accumulation with another 10 to 15 cm expected.

Snow is expected to switch to rain early Tuesday and travel is not recommended as visibilty could be suddenly reduced at times.
