Drivers warned to take care driving the Okanagan Connector

Multiple crashes, icy roads

Multiple crashes on mountain highways surrounding the Okanagan have been caused tonight (Oct. 20) by winter road conditions.

At approximately 7 p.m., a single vehicle crash due to slippery conditions on Hwy. 97 C was attended by fire engines.

Twenty minutes later, an ambulance was on scene at Sunset Main where a vehicle was in a ditch. Emergency staff were told there were other crashes further up and sent for another two ambulances from Merritt.

Drivers are warned to take extra care if traveling along the Connector and particularly near the Pennask Summit, where the road is very icy.
