Searchers locate missing hiker with multiple sclerosis

The search is over for a Vancouver Island man with multiple sclerosis who went out for a walk near Nanaimo, B.C., on Tuesday.

RCMP issued a notice Wednesday saying 51-year-old Cortney Latoski has been found safe and sound.

Latoski set out Tuesday for a lengthy walk through the Living Forest Campground and his family reported him missing six hours later.

Nanaimo Search and Rescue was contacted and crews searched unsuccessfully overnight.

Police didn't give details of where the man was found but say his family members have been notified.

A search is underway on Vancouver Island for a man with multiple sclerosis who hasn't returned from a hike south of Nanaimo.

RCMP say 51-year-old Cortney Latoski is an avid hiker and set out Tuesday for a lengthy walk through the Living Forest Campground.

His family contacted authorities when he had not returned six hours later.

Police say Nanaimo Search and Rescue was contacted and crews searched unsuccessfully overnight.

The search resumed Wednesday.

Latoski is just under six feet tall with a slim build, and is believed to be wearing a black quilted jacket, acid-washed jeans and new, white runners.
