Police were able to talk someone down from the floating bridge

Jumper talked off bridge

Kelowna RCMP were able to successfully talk a woman out of jumping from the William R. Bennett Bridge Sunday evening.

A call came in about 8:30 p.m. indicating a woman was over the barrier and was threatening to jump.

Emergency crews positioned themselves in the water and on the bridge.

The bridge was closed in both directions for the duration of the incident.

Police were eventually able to convince the woman to come back to safety just after 9.

Traffic is flowing again, but is very slow due to volume.
