The West Kelowna Warriors open road trip on winning note

Warriors take 1st over Wild

The resurgent West Kelowna Warriors are playing their best hockey of the season.

After snapping an eight game losing streak last weekend, the Warriors have now picked up points in three straight.

The latest success, a 5-2 win in Wenatchee Friday night.

It was the first of back-to-back games in the Washington city.

The Warriors made the most of their opportunities, building up a 4-0 lead just past the midway point of the second, scoring those four goals on just 14 shots.

Drew Vieten and Brendan Pigeon, who has been the best Warrior forward the past few weeks, staked the Warriors to a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Rob Christy and Brandon Dent made it 4-0 after two before Dent potted his second for a 5-0 lead early in the third.

Luke Ormsby and Harrison Scott scored late in the game to spoil Brock Baier's bid for his first shutout of the season.

Pigeon and Ryan Upson each picked up a pair of assists in the victory.

Baier turned away 35 shots in the victory.

The two teams meet again Saturday in Wenatchee.

The Warriors are back home next weekend for games Friday against Salmon Arm and Saturday against Merritt.
