Tattoos to help cure Kacey

You can get inked – and help a sick child get well.

Kelowna's Dynamic Studios will be hosting a tattoo fundraiser this Sunday in support of Kacey, a two-year-old girl battling cancer.

Kacey has embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive and rare cancer. She is receiving treatment at B.C. Children's Hospital in Vancouver.

"I read your article on Castanet about Kacey, and it kind of hit home for me because my nephew was born with neuroblastoma," said Dynamic owner Ryan Scarpino. "I'm also a father to a little baby girl, so I wanted to help out."

After reading about Kacey, Scarpino donated to the GoFundMe campaign and afterwards Kacey's dad personally thanked him on Facebook.

After connecting, Scarpino wanted to contribute more, so the flash tattoo fundraiser was organized.

The fundraiser allows customers to choose from 167 pre-drawn tattoo ideas, with all proceeds directly going to Kacey's family.

"There will be some cool little realism tattoos, animals ... and a bunch of other cool tattoos to pick from," said Scarpino.

Tattoos will be available on a first come, first served basis, with prices ranging from $100 to $300.

With the help of  Bertram & Co Tattoo and Magnetic Tattoo, 12 artists will be tattooing throughout the day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dynamic Studios is located on Bernard Avenue, next to The Munkey's Fist Grill and Bar.
