UPDATE 11:15 a.m.

Police have recovered what is believed to be the vehicle involved in a carjacking on Eastside Road in Penticton Thursday afternoon.

A grey Toyota Rav 4 matching the description of one being sought by RCMP was towed out of the parking lot of the Penticton Golf and Country Club at around 10:45 a.m.

RCMP officers have canvassed surrounding businesses, appealing for information and video surveillance footage. The SUV appeared to be abandoned at the parking lot with no suspect in the area.

A man standing by a crashed motorcycle on East Side Road flagged down a passing driver. When the driver pulled over to assist, the man pointed a firearm at the driver and told them to exit the vehicle, which they did.

The suspect then drove the a Rav4 toward Penticton. The unharmed victim called 911.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 20-30 years of age, approximately 5 foot 7 inches tall with dark brown curly hair, a black leather jacket and black jeans.
