Escaping the Rabbit Hole

Kelowna author Tracey Maxfield has been nominated for the 2019 Author Academy Award for her book 'Escaping the Rabbit Hole.'

The award recognizes literary and publishing excellence within the writing industry with Maxfield's book being nominated in the general non-fiction category.

The book depicts an honest and raw description of depression and what life is like after having experienced an acute depressive episode.

Through blog posts, journal entries and a personal letter, Maxfield shares her emotional and physical pain that she had encountered, followed by an ongoing battle against suicide.

“Hundreds of books from authors throughout the world are up for an Author Academy Award,” said Kary Oberbrunner, founder of Author Academy Elite and the Author Academy Awards.

“Our goal is to help further connect this global community of authors, maintain excellence and integrity of the book publishing industry, and raise awareness that the stories being told and the authors who write them are worth our attention.”

The award contains 16 categories where different authors are considered including indie, traditional, and collaborative.

The entries are rated by popular vote, social contribution and overall presentation including the cover, content, flow and originality.
