Caught skulking in carport

A Kelowna woman is reminding people to make sure their valuables are safe and secure after catching someone skulking around her carport.

Surveillance footage shows a woman checking out Heather McIntyre's carport early Tuesday morning.

“I have only had the camera installed for a few weeks and have already caught this woman brazenly lurking in our carport. It has also recorded cars and people on bicycles slowly trolling through our complex in the wee small hours of the morning. It is a seniors complex. No one that lives here is riding their bike in the dark at 4 a.m.,” said McIntyre.

“The incident has been duly reported to the police, but they can’t do much unless they can identify her, or catch people like her in the act or in possession of stolen property. She had disappeared by the time I jumped out of bed and grabbed a pair of shoes, and ran out the front door.”

McIntyre said this is not the first time something like this has happened in the complex on Leckie Road near Canadian Tire.

“I only installed the camera because we were sick of the petty thefts that have been going on lately. They’ve stolen our Christmas laser lights, chainsaws from the shed, and even a laundry bag from the back of the pickup, although they were kind enough to leave the dirty clothes. Our neighbours have had similar experiences,” she said.
