Vees to race dragon boats

The boys may be used to their water being frozen, but the Penticton Vees are up for the challenge of a team-building dragon boat experience this weekend.

Penticton Dragon Boating has paired up with the Vees for a special race on Aug. 25, pitting Vees players and staff members in a race against Survivorship, a dragon boat group of breast cancer survivors.

The Vees won't be getting much instruction at first — the dragon boat experts from the organization will see how they do in a first race, then give them some coaching before a final face-off.

“This is a great challenge for our team to come together and get out in the community for the first time this year,” said Vees president, general manager and head coach Fred Harbinson.

“I’d like to thank Don Mulhall and the Penticton Dragon Boat for giving us this opportunity and is something we are really looking forward to on Sunday.”

Catch the Vees hitting the water at 10 a.m. Sunday morning on Skaha Lake.
