Floaters create traffic woes

The dog days of summer were made for lounging in a cool body of water, but traffic from those in pursuit of a watery adventure are causing headaches for one North Okanagan community.

Floaters on the Shuswap River near Enderby have led to a significant traffic increase on once quiet rural roads.

"It's creating problems with congestion," says Denis Delisle, Regional District of North Okanagan Area F director.

Delisle has been discussing possible solutions with the RCMP and Ministry of Transportation, which is responsible for rural roads.

"We're trying to figure out how to slow it (traffic) down and make it safer," he said.
