Can't wait for winter? Opening day at Big White Ski Resort has been set for Nov. 28, management announced Monday.

The countdown to carving turns in Champagne powder is on, with just over 100 days until the resort opens its winter season.

Despite the summer heat, staff have been busy planning and preparing for the return of skiing and snowboarding.

Crews have been blasting at the rock ridge just below the Gem Lake unload station to create the Village Way return trail, which will open up more terrain earlier in the season.

Season passes are already on sale, and those who book a winter stay on the mountain will get free skiing until Dec. 20. Check out Big White's website for more details.
