Money for youth with ideas

Youth with big ideas in the South Okanagan and Similkameen have an opportunity to earn a grant of up to $15,000 to help fund their community-minded project.

The RBC Future Launch Community Challenge is calling on youth aged 15-29 in the region to answer the question: "What is your boldest idea to respond to an urgent local need?"

Respondents can pitch an idea, and they will be considered for funding.

"When developing project ideas, applicants are encouraged to experiment with new ideas and to build relationships between community members," reads an information release.

Each application will be required to demonstrate the role played both by youth and a partner organization which is a "qualified done," a list of charitable organizations, municipalities and First Nations that can be found here

Proposed projects should focus on an "urgent local need" — for example, food security, employment, inclusion, reconciliation and restoration, or anything else that a community may need to work on.

Applications are open until Sept. 18, and a total of $30,000 is available for projects in the South Okanagan and Similkameen, enough for two successful applications.
