Highway crash claims a life

A 30-year-old man from Burnaby was killed following a two-vehicle crash in Kelowna early Tuesday.

The incident occurred just after 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Harvey Avenue and Cooper Road.

Investigators on the scene say a Cadillac SUV, travelling east on Harvey, collided with a Honda Accord, going north on Cooper.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at Kelowna General Hospital from injuries suffered in the crash. The other driver suffered only minor injuries.

Investigators are looking for witnesses and surveillance video in the immediate area to determine the cause of the crash.

“While it is early in the investigation, drugs and alcohol are not factors in this crash,” says Cpl. Meghan Foster.

“A woman who spoke with the responding paramedics identified herself as a witness to the crash. To advance this investigation, officers would like this woman to contact the Kelowna RCMP.”

Anyone else with information is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.

The highway was closed for several hours while police processed the scene.
