A Kelowna family is reaching out for help after their two-year-old daughter Kacey was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer.

Young Kacey Gulbransen has embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma.

Lisa Kent, a close friend of the family set up a GoFundMe campaign to help them financially while they travel to and from Vancouver for Kacey's treatment. 

"Our friends Kevin and Angela are staring the impossible in the face and marching with more grace than I have ever seen, because there is no other option," said Kent.

Kacey will be receiving treatment at B.C. Children's Hospital and staying at Ronald McDonald House with her mom, while her dad and siblings travel to and from Kelowna for work and school obligations. 

ERMS is treated with chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, and it is expected that Kacey's treatment could take up to a year, having a significant impact on the Gulbransen's finances.

The GoFundMe campaign has set a goal of $15,000 and with other fundraising, the family hopes to raise a total of $25,000. The fund currently sits at just over $7,000.

"As two people who give so much of themselves and never ask anything of anyone else, I'm asking for anyone and everyone who knows them or knows someone who knows them, to step up and lend a hand," said Lisa.
