Storm warning reactivated

UPDATE: 8 p.m.

The severe thunderstorm is back in action according to Environment Canada. 

"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail this evening and overnight," reads an update shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday. 

They include the entire Southern Interior in the warning, from Vernon through Penticton.

They add that heavy rain is also possible.

Environment Canada has lifted the thunderstorm warning.

ORIGINAL: 6:25 p.m.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Central Okanagan. 

At 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, the weather organization issued the alert. Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm over Highway 6 approximately 20 kilometres southeast of Cherryville. 

The storm is moving northwards at 50 km/h and is capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. 

Environment Canada warns that strong winds can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings and break branches off trees.
